ATYP's National Studio is an invaluable mentoring opportunity connecting young adult writers from around Australia with leading playwrights and dramaturgs. The National Studio is about nurturing emerging playwrights nationally, connecting them with mentors and creating a community of writers that will sustain each other for years to come.
In 2020, the National Studio went online and was supported by the mentorship of Mary-Anne Butler, Vanessa Bates, Jane Fitzgerald and Chris Isaacs.
Face Off is the culmination of the mentoring received at the National Studio and was originally developed as a short script for two youth actors.
The script follows a cast of pimples as they risk possible extinction from a face, in a world where being pretty is the worst thing ever.
Alex is currently developing the work for production.
