This Was Urgent Yesterday
This Was Urgent Yesterday is the resulting publication of the 2019 Writing Place Residency which was a joint project of Country Arts SA, Carclew and Australian Theatre for Young People (ATYP) supported by the Regional Arts Fund Strategic Initiatives.
Over eight days emerging regional writers aged 18-26 from across Australia gathered to learn, connect and write mentored by leading Australian playwrights Caleb Lewis, Mary Anne Butler and Emily Steel. During Writing Place each participant generated and refined a monologue for teenage performers. With the support of Arts South Australia, invited industry and local guests joined the participants and mentors for a behind-the-scenes reading of the works.
The writing generated from Writing Place is now published by Currency Press. This Was Urgent Yesterday is a collection of single-actor scripts written by and for young people from regional Australia.
